The headlines are full of updates from COP26 in Glasgow and, rightly so, people from all over the world are demanding urgent action on the climate crisis.
As a food brand that has an impact on carbon emissions, we must play a part in reducing our carbon footprint. Alongside governments and individuals, businesses have a critical responsibility to act now to keep the global average temperature increase below 1.5°C.
You can’t improve what you don’t know, so we have completed the mapping of our first carbon footprint across our own operations and supply chain (Scopes 1, 2 and 3) which will form our baseline. For transparency, I've shared the breakdown below.
We are committed to reducing the carbon emissions in our own operations (3.89 tCO2e across Scope 1 and 2) to 0 by 2023, and we will be submitting this to the SBTI.
We are currently working with an environmental consultancy to set a reductions target for Scope 3 (supply chain). With them we will map how we can reduce our Scope 3 emissions in line with Science Based Targets Initiatives with an ambition to become Net Zero.
We have to take action and this is just the beginning. We will be sharing our annual impact report soon, which will contain more detailed information on what we've been working on.
